bon iver beauty.

"Here's one the Icelandic Ministry of Tourism will appreciate: Bon Iver's new video for "Holocene," which follows a young boy as he explores the island nation's breathtaking countryside. It's a stunning five-and-a-half minutes of vast green plateaus, floating icebergs, rocky ocean beaches, and other scenic beauty. You can almost feel the damp moss squishing beneath your feet. The video -- fittingly premiered at National Geographic -- is a perfect match for the atmospheric folk song from the Wisconsin band's self-titled album. "I could see for miles, miles, miles," frontman Justin Vernon sings in his warbling falsetto." - found via SPIN.com

"there's a lot that i don't know. there's a lot that i'm still learning."

so excited jack's mannequin will be in nashville oct 18th right after their new album drops. lead singer andrew mcmahon's (formerly of something corporate) battle against leukemia in 2005 tugged my heart strings then, but given my boss bob's current condition, i have even more respect and admiration for his fight and his work. here's a little acoustic love:

"something good can work."

every time this song comes on my slacker radio, i find myself bobbing my head at work. it doesn't hurt that this irish band was produced by Eliot James (Kaiser Chiefs, Noah & The Whale, Bloc Party).

socks & chimes.

this duo is hard to find on the interweb, but well worth the effort. visit their website for a little sampling. sounds like a forgotten track on the 500 days of summer album. love their description: "It’s a love story. A real one. Aches, elations, and everything in between."

"pumped up kicks" foster the people

"This orgy of success was ignited by "Pumped Up Kicks" — the song that went from YouTube to the eager forebrains of very dedicated fans and then an after-the-fact three-song EP. Simply searching for "Pumped Up Kicks" and "song of the summer" — a cliché as applicable as it is adorable — yields hundreds of results from local newspapers, national media outlets, radio station websites and blogs.

"When I wrote ['Pumped Up Kicks'] I didn't know that it would be the type of song it has been," Foster says. By that, he means that he didn't know it would become the impetus for launching the band into a major label deal and all these sold-out shows and the trappings of pop fame circa 2011, etc. 'I produced 'Pumped up Kicks' myself and to me it was just a demo. A week or two later it started to go viral.'" - LA Weekly

"home"

I ran away in floods of shame
I'll never tell how close I came
As I cross the Holland road
You went left and I went right
As the moon hung proud and white
You would of loved it here tonight

Spin me down just to pin me down
On the cover of this strange bed
Spin me down just to pin me dowm

Roll out your questions keep them down
Let the water lead us home
And I was sorry for what I'd done

You were young I was not old
And our story was not told
But torn apart by greedy hands

Spin me round just to pin me down
On the cover of this strange bed
spin me round just to pin me down

Spin me round just to pin me down
I'll be gone by the nights end
Spin me round just to pin me down

But I'll be home in a little while
Lover I'll be home
And I'll be home in a little while
Lover I'll be home

And I'll be home in a little while
Lover I'll be home
And I'll be homw in a little while
Lover I'll be home

Beauty

i realize not everyone sees beauty in the same way. the reason i love the show So You Think You Can Dance is because it combines almost every creative element. there is music, choreography, art and dance. at times there are even multiple emotions expressed and felt. so, that's why i look forward to it every season. it's beautiful to me. plus you learn stories, which is makes them real. so i've included two clips. When the world is introduced to melanie & then my favorite dance from last night, who happened to be hers.
